My name is Marieke Warmelink, I am a Dutch socially engaged artist.
With my art I travelled to many countries, such as India, America, Turkey, and Indonesia, where I lived for four years. I currently live in Bakkum, in the North of Holland.
I graduated with two BA’s; Cum Laude in Graphic Design at UWE, University of the West of England and Fine art and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy Amsterdam, in the Netherlands.
In the artfield I worked as a ‘facilitator’ at the Rijksakademie of Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, one of the world’s leading top international art institutes.
My career over the past 20 years has shaped itself with many international projects. With my work I specialise in creating socially engaged performances, films & interventions as well as painting.
It has been my pleasure to be a guest teacher at various universities such as; Columbia University NYC, US, Pace University NYC, US, Artez University, Zwolle, The Netherlands, Gerrit Rietveld Academy Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Shiv Nadar Universiity, department of Art Design and performing arts, school of humanities and social science, Delhi, India, among others.
With the experiences I gained during my career, it was a natural transition to start a platform called ‘women with a voice’ to empower and make women visible through art.
With the platform I create awareness for genderequality through lectures, exhibitions, workshops, events, films, discussions and teaching.
